Consultation to present the draft master plan and draft environmental report

Background info
The Sunnanvind project has been established to enable the development of large-scale offshore wind power in Åland's northern sea areas, aiming to bring maximised benefits to Åland. To achieve the objectives set by the Government of Åland for the establishment of large-scale offshore wind power, a master plan outline and a draft environmental report have been developed for all municipalities with public water areas where establishment is possible.
The Government of Åland has engaged WSP Sverige AB as a consultant for the environmental assessment and planning assignment. This work has involved an iterative process with the aim of gathering information and opinions in order to develop the best possible knowledge base. Starting point for all investigations conducted during the planning and environmental assessment process is the planning area that was defined for the scoping consultation. During the environmental assessment, the area was further defined based on the results and assessments of the potential impacts of constructing wind turbines.
